Join us at Ellicar in North Nottinghamshire for a rare opportunity to experience a fully established natural swimming pool in a real garden setting, surrounded by five acres of naturalistic gardens. Our open days are designed to give you a genuine sense of what a natural pool feels like in everyday use - swimming in crystal-clear, chemical-free water and seeing how beautifully it sits within a living landscape.
Throughout your visit, you’ll have the chance to meet the design team, explore our gardens, and gain a deeper understanding of how natural swimming pools work in practice. We also run practical demonstrations on maintenance and care, and you’re welcome to browse our portfolio books, handle the materials we use in our projects, and discuss ideas for your own garden transformation.
Whether you’re in the early stages of exploring the concept or ready to begin your own project, the day is designed to inform, inspire, and bring clarity to what’s possible with Ellicar.
On 15th and 16th July, we are hosting dedicated open day tours at Ellicar Gardens for garden designers and landscaping professionals, with sessions running at 11:00am and 2:00pm each day. This is an opportunity to explore our five-acre site and see first-hand how naturalistic landscapes and water systems are integrated at a high level of design and construction.
The tours will include our specialist sand gardens, perennial meadows, natural swimming pool, and a range of naturalistic planting schemes. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet our technical design team and gain a deeper understanding of how we deliver complex landscaping projects—from natural swimming pools and wildlife ponds through to hard landscaping elements including decking, paving, welded steel edging, ground preparation, and full soft landscaping installation.
We frequently collaborate with garden designers to bring biologically filtered water systems into wider schemes, supporting everything from concept development through to on-site delivery. These open days are designed to give you practical insight into how we work, and how Ellicar can support you in delivering ambitious, nature-led landscapes for your clients.
Ellicar is a family business, led by head garden designer Sarah, who brings over 30 years of experience and a passion for naturalistic design. Our team includes skilled pool builders, horticulturalists, and technicians—many of whom are family members or have been with us for years.
What started as a personal garden project has grown into a nationally recognised design and build company, known for our unique approach and award-winning results. Our clients appreciate not just the quality of our work, but the warmth, trust, and dedication we bring to every project.

For those coming from Misterton, ignore your sat nav and drive to the village of Gringley on the Hill, turn left onto Leys Lane, follow the road out of the village for about 1.5 miles and we are situated on the left, the last obvious property opposite a cream house on the right. Look out for the swing signs at our gate.
