A swimming pond with spectacular views across the open countryside, prefect for relaxing beside the water and the odd dip on a sunny day.
This wildlife friendly swimming pond was constructed on the site of an old pond. We excavated and reshaped the chambers to create a swimming pond that provides a focal point for a family to enjoy get togethers beside the water and enjoy swimming on sunny days.
This swimming pond was part of a wider garden project that we designed and landscaped for our clients. Our clients wished for a wildlife friendly pond with the option to swim. We designed the pool to work with the house and site aspect, with a sun deck for seating and enjoying the water. A jetty allows access to the water, useful for pond maintenance.
The pond was excavated and the chambers retained with concrete block construction. We lined the pond with TPO liner heat welded in-situ and installed a filtered play beach and plant filter to keep the water hygienic and filtered fit for swimming. A regeneration zone wraps around the pool with water lilies, native oxygenators and fringed with marginals. Swallow dip, newts, frogs and toads have quickly taken up residence in the pond and dragon flies and damsel flies are seen around the water's edge.
To one side of the pond a bog garden planted with colourful perennials forms a backdrop to the water.
