You will be managing our small team of skilled pool specialists, constructing award-winning natural swimming pools and wildlife ponds. This is precise, diverse and challenging work, from exact setting out from construction plans and excavating profiles to finishing with bespoke decking and paving, each pool having unique in-pool features such as jetties, boulders and water features.

In between you will be carrying out multi-disciplinary construction work including groundworks and grading, profiling, civils and drainage, blockwork and concrete screeding, plumbing and pipework, lining and water proofing. Finally, you will be planting up the pools and ponds and finishing the garden landscape around the water ready for our soft landscaping team to complete the project.

You will also be responsible for the day to day running of the construction site, site safety, ordering in materials, keeping daily records and liaising with our design team, our clients and other professionals.

Job Description:

  • Working from construction drawings and landscape plans
  • Organise site deliveries, supervise projects and site health and safety
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, landscape architects and our design team
  • Work alongside and supervise our small team of skilled construction specialists
  • Precise setting out, operating laser levels 
  • Use of power tools and machinery, including excavators
  • Ground preparation, grading, with an eye for levels and ground contours
  • Installing site drainage systems and ground de-watering
  • Sub-base and framework preparation
  • Reinforced concrete construction and screeding 
  • Walling, including concrete blocks and brickwork
  • Laying of various stone paving, setts and pavers
  • Installing bespoke decking 
  • Turfing and ground preparation
  • Plumbing, pipework, installation of filters and hydraulics
  • Experience in installing ponds and flexible lining systems is beneficial but not essential
  • Some soft landscaping, including tree planting, handling and staking large specimen trees, general planting and soft landscaping

  • Happy working away on long distance projects with expenses, travel and comfortable accommodation paid with time off between projects an option
  • Full driving license and trailer license

Location & Travel

Ellicar HQ is at Ellicar Gardens in North Nottinghamshire, and our soft landscaping projects are based around Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Our natural swimming pool projects are focused around Yorkshire and the East Midlands but for projects further afield you will need to be happy living away during the week. We provide you with comfortable accommodation, cover expenses, pay your travel time and offer time off in lieu between projects.
